In the year 247 Ileosa was hit by it’s first, only and largest drought. It left irreversible effects on Ileosa leaving it a shell of what it used to be. Ileosa lost 50% of it’s resources and 50% of it’s population due to disease, lack of water and forest fires among other crises. 40% of the soil that could be used for agriculture became unusable. While the separate tundra like region of Ileosa was cut in half in it’s area. It seems the drought remains to this day but in a milder form- rain, resources and areas with grass patches are few and far between.
Ileosans in the lawless lands primarily make do for water with wells, digging deep for underground water reserves. The river water level lowered so much that people have to walk down a set of installed steps to reach it. The veery old folks that lived before the drought claim that the overall temperature has increased as well. They would also insist that Ileosa was a luscious paradise before the drought's occurance.
The drought is held up as THE event in Ileosa. One of great myths, one that is responsible for the current state of Lapadei, Raga, the lawless lands, the extinction of different species, the multiple different ideologies in Ileosa, the formation of different cults and risen human population. It is the originator of the competitive nature in Ileosa, especially the lawless lands as the people there have nothing to really fall back on government care wise. The drought sparked a culture in the lawless lands where money and treasure do not really have value as much as exchanging goods, resources and services does.
This emptiness in population started being filled by newly "isekaid" humans. To put into perspective, the third ever transported human entered Ileosa 250 years after the first two. And this time around humans started appearing much more frequently for the following decades even up to now.
The drought left numerous houses and villages in the lawless lands empty of life. It might not be super wise as a human to move into a house whose last residents died from unlivable conditions but when you are desperate for shelter and have been dropped off in a random spot in the lawless lands you just kind of go for it.
